Let us give you an idea of what to expect on your first visit to our office.

Perhaps you will be seeing us because you want a comprehensive examination. Maybe a specific dental problem causes you to make an appointment.

Comprehensive Examination

A thorough, comprehensive examination is the most important first step to having a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. At this appointment Dr. Slater will examine your mouth for abnormalities, oral cancer, TMJ problems, tooth decay, and gum disease.

Oral Examination

You will be asked questions about your health, dental history, current dental problems and any cosmetic concerns. Photos, x-rays, and study casts may be prescribed as needed.

The time and fee will be based on the complexity of your dental condition.  Generally a cleaning or hygiene visit is not included on the same day.  However once Dr. Slater has determined the health of your gum and bone, along with other factors, we will appoint you for a visit with our hygienist.

Dr. Slater will study the information gathered at this appointment and create a treatment plan. Upon your return for a no-charge consultation, she will explain the condition of your mouth and the various choices for treatment. You will be given an estimate of fees and length of time for treatment.

Please feel free to voice your concerns and ask questions. Once the treatment plan is finalized and financial arrangements are made, we will schedule your treatment visits.

Please bring a list of medications, your physician’s name and phone numbers.

Health Information

Our goal is to diagnose your dental problem, relieve your pain and treat any infection.

You will be asked questions about your health and your immediate dental problem. A limited examination, focusing on your problem, will be done and x-rays may be prescribed.

Dr. Slater will explain the condition of your mouth. If more treatment is needed she will explain your options. You will be given an estimate of fees and length of time for treatment.

Before Your First Visit

You can get a head start by printing and filling out our new patient forms before you arrive for your first appointment.  For patients that are taking multiple medications and/or have multiple physicians bringing a list is very helpful.
